Visiting Fiji for the first time, 62-year-old Sarah
from the U.S. chose to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity Fiji because, as she puts it, “It’s a beautiful country with beautiful people and I wanted to experience the culture and help them.”
For Sarah, decent housing means much more than four walls: “It’s important for safety and security for families of many generations. It gives peace of mind and helps kids be able to focus on school.”
Having built homes around the world, Sarah found the Fiji build uniquely heartwarming. “Habitat Fiji was very welcoming and kind. They are very hospitable, and we felt like we made a difference,” she shared, recalling how “kind everyone was—Rachel was great and so were Bill and Kaji.”
Her favorite part? “The camaraderie with the team and spending time with the staff and homeowners.”
Sarah leaves Fiji with memories of connection, culture, and a lasting contribution to a stronger community.
